Methodology: How This Music Chart Works

Process Summary: The 10 songs were ranked using chart factors include like TV and radio airplay, record sales (both digital and physical), streaming platforms, track (song) and video downloads from top African entertainment sites, as well as YouTube views.

Yemi Alade has collaborated with numerous artist from all across the African continent in order to focus on the artist, the team tired to limit the number of features and collaborations included.

Sanko

Sanko is a dancehall track produced by Orbeat and was featured in his fifth studio album ‘’Epiphany’’. Its alluring beat will definitely get you to move your body whether you are a dance lover or not. It was released in 2014 and went on to become one of the commercial hits of that year.

Bum Bum Remix

Following huge acceptance of the 2013 song ‘Bum Bum’, the Dem Mama Records star teamed up with the award winning Jamaican dancehall super star, Sean Paul, for the remix. The dancehall duo created the perfect song for sensual and sexual booty shaking; the video had quite a lot of it.

Balance

After 5 years of not serving his teaming fans with any project, Timaya opened the year with the release of the lease single off his album, Chulo Vibes. Balance tells his personal story of starting out as a poor artiste and his rise to affluence and lavishing money on himself and his friends. Again, this track was produced by his long time ally, Orbeat while the video was produced by Unlimited LA.

Ukwu

Ukwu is another dance tune and carries the same theme as the bum bum track. Timaya, popularly called Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa seems to be in love with the African big booties as he does another song extolling the beauty and wander of the big bottoms.

Money

Club hit master Timaya, does another one with the ‘Ada Ada Crooner’, Mr. Flavour. Money, produced by Young D, is a mix of dancehall and that lovely Eastern tune, thanks to Mr. Flavour. This song is the typical song to tell the story of how success has many friends and failure is an orphan. You’d definitely love this combination of dancehall and conscious content.

Dance

Dance is a 2017 collaboration between Timaya and Rudeboy of the defunct group, Psqaure. Yet another successful Orbeat production, they both sing of asking a damsel to dance. This song went on to be nominated for the Headies Award for best reggae/dancehall single.

Bum Bum

The 2012 song is an upbeat song about booty shaking. It has an ‘Azonto-like’ vibe, rocked in the clubs and parties at the time and still is, even these days. The visuals were shot by the stellar Clarence Peters.

I Concur

Featuring the Chief of the Industry, Don Jazzy, I Concur is a simple song filled with ‘vibes’ and ‘pure cruise’. Made solely for play and dance, it does serve the listener something to bop and move to.

Kom Kom

Kom Kom showcases Timaya alongside King Berry and Patoranking. Call this a quality reggae triple threat and you won’t be far from the truth. Kom Kom is another dope serving by Papi Chulo along with King Berry and Patoranking who never disappoints.

Telli Person

We can safely say Mr Timaya knows the right people to make good music. While he may not be Kiss Daniel, we can say that Timaya has no bad songs. This time, he gets in the booth with top notch rappers of the East and West- Phyno and Olamide, on a very upbeat song that encourages young people to shun fraud and work hard or face the consequences and the justice of the Law.
